The forest swallowed the moon. Mist coiled around gnarled trees like spectral hands, and the air hummed with the static of unseen storms. He was no longer yellow. His fur, black as burnt charcoal, blended with the shadows—only the faint blue crackle of his cheeks betrayed him. Pikachu. A name that felt foreign now.
The night was alive with threats. Twigs snapped like bones under unseen paws. Eyes glowed in the dark—a pack of Mightyena, their teeth glinting. He backed away, sparks sputtering. Weak. His Thunderbolt flickered, a dying star. But when the alpha lunged, instinct took over. Lightning erupted, raw and desperate, painting the trees in jagged neon. The wolves scattered, howling.
Alone again. Rain began to fall, hissing as it met his charged fur. Hunger gnawed. He scavenged bitter berries, their taste like ash. Memories flashed—a trainer’s laugh, a warm poké-ball, safety. Gone. Now, only the forest’s whispers: You don’t belong here.
Dawn approached, gray and cold. A new sound cut through the mist—a low, grinding roar. Something ancient stirred in the earth. Trees trembled; the ground split. From the fissure, a glow—not electric, but molten, hungry. Eyes like magma locked onto him.
He sparked his Thunderbolt one last time. It wavered.
The creature lunged.
